The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Zamfara State has warned all the civil servants working in the state and the public of the necessity of complying with the constitutional provisions of the state’s electoral laws.

It also stated that the electoral constitutional provision also empowered the commission to equally follow the guiding principles in the electoral process.

According to a statement from the party: “In line with electoral guidelines, any member intending to contest in the forthcoming elections must resign their appointment no later than today at 12 pm.

“This step is essential to ensuring a free, fair, credible and transparent electoral process and to upholding the integrity of our party. We encourage all interested candidates of all political parties to prepare for this important civic duty, and we stand ready to support them in their endeavours.”

Meanwhile, the executive chairman of the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission, ZSIEC, has assured that no political party in the state would be victimised.

He therefore encouraged all the political parties in the state to come out fully for the local government polls for the sake of democracy.
