Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has released the sum of N300 million to pay pension arrears of 1,501 retirees.

A statement signed by the Head of Service, Destus Oyebade, on Monday said the sum was aside the statutory remittance of N508,000,000 approved for the payment of retired civil servants, and an additional sum of of N150,000,000 approved for the payment of retirees under the contributory pensions scheme.

Oyebade,also assured the state government’s commitment to the welfare of serving and retired workers in the State.

The statement read in part, “The Governor of the State of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola, as part of his commitment to improve the welfare of retired civil servants and workers of the State, has released the sum of N300m to pay pension arrears to 1,501 retirees.

“The names of selected retirees has been posted on the notice board of the Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation, State Pension Bureau, Local Government Pension Bureau and the Office of the Head of Service.

“Payment to the selected retirees begins with effect from Monday, October 25.”
