Expert urges motorists to use OEM-approved lubricants

The Lead, Technical Support, Eterna Plc, Mr Oluwaseun Mendes, has advised motorists to use only lubricants approved by the Original Equipment Manufacturers in servicing their vehicles.

Mendes said this recently at an event organised by a group called Naja on the safety of motorists in the country, a statement said.

Speaking, Mendes also encouraged motorists to change their vehicles’ oil frequently, especially when such cars were exposed to heat often.

He said, “Why not change the oil more frequent than advised? Oil hates temperature and cars are exposed to excessive temperature while in traffic.

“In this case, you have to change your oil as frequent as possible.”

Also speaking, Mr Sylvester Enwere, an engineer with Toyota Nigeria Limited, advised motorists to ensure their air conditioning system was serviced regularly to avoid the spread of airborne diseases through the system.

Also at the event, operators in the transport industry were urged to take advantage of the numerous benefits accruable to taking insurance cover in their business.

Speaking, a team from Cornerstone Insurance firm – made up of Messrs Pelumi Akindumusire, Akinlosotu Olatunbosun and Adebayo Adesina – said operating in the transport sector in the country came with high risks, including accident, injury, death and vehicle theft.
