A couple were over the weekend strangled to death at Gbongan, in Osun State, by unknown assailants.
DAILY POST reports that the couple, Reuben Akanbi, 70, and Victoria Akanbi, 68, lived in an isolated abode along Iwo road, in the ancient town of Gbongan.
The case was reported at Gbongan divisional police station by one Caleb Akanbi, who is a son to the deceased couple.
Akanbi revealed that his parents were violently murdered through strangulation, adding that there were marks of violence on their corpses.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Folashade Odoro, who confirmed the incident said the corpses had been deposited at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital for an autopsy.
She added that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Adeola Fimihan has directed special detectives “to embark on diligent investigation and quickly fish out those behind the gruesome murder”.
