Leaders’ high-handedness caused PDP’s loss in Abia guber election – Party chieftain Aguoru

Share:

The Director of New Media of the defunct Peoples Democratic Party Governorship Campaign Council in Abia State, Chief Uche Aguoru, has attributed high-handedness and insincerity of few powerful members to the Party’s loss in the 2023 elections.

He also criticised a former minority leader of the senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe and accused him of setting the grounds for the implosion that happened to the party.

In a statement on Thursday, Aguoru insisted that Abaribe led the rebellion and gave others the courage to move against the party.

He noted that the leadership of the party weren’t smart to see the conspiracy and went ahead to deny tickets to popular candidates during the primary elections.

According to him: “The PDP lost quality membership that could have guaranteed victory at the grassroots.

“The party was fighting against itself as the state chairman wasn’t in control of the internal party mechanism and the loss at the polling units became imminent.”

Aguoru revealed that the party has activated its internal conflict resolution mechanism and is yielding desired results.

He said: “Meetings are ongoing at very high levels, issues are being addressed, no holds barred.

“In a few months time, the party will come out with a strong and vibrant leadership.

“The party is doing self reevaluation and strategizing.Truth is, it remains the only party and platform that can give the ruling Labour party a strong opposition.

“Senator Akobundu should be advised to allow members to choose their leaders; he should allow internal party democracy to prevail. His undemocratic tendencies chased the likes of Hon Onuigbo and many others out of PDP.”
