No fewer than two million residents of Ogun State are expected to vote in today’s governorship and House of Assembly elections.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), 2,688,305 persons registered to vote in Ogun State.
The voters are expected to file out from 8am on Saturday to choose who would lead them for another four years as governor and members of the State Assembly.
Ogun governorship election is a three-horse race, even though 12 political parties registered to take part in the poll.
The incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun is seeking reelection under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abiodun is facing serious opposition from his Iperu kinsman, Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Likewise, Barrister Biyi Otegbeye, who is being backed by former Governor Ibikunle Amosun on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is another leading candidate in the election.
In the next few hours, Ogun people would recruit one of the contestants to rule the State till 2027.
