The Standards Organisation of Nigeria on Thursday disclosed that it had arrested 10 fake manufacturers operating in Kano, Ibadan and Lagos over the past nine months.
The organisation’s Director-General, Farouk Salim, who made this known at a one-day workshop organised for journalists by his organisation in Abuja, added that the suspects were currently being prosecuted.
He added that during the same period, the agency confiscated substandard tyres and other products worth hundreds of millions of naira from across the country.
The SON boss observed that the enforcement activities of the organisation had been increased to prevent the import of substandard goods into the country.
