The chairman, Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board, ZSUBEB, Prof Nasiru Garba Anka has described education as a weapon of fighting poverty and unemployment, calling on stakeholders in the State to redouble their efforts.
According to him, this would complement the State Government’s commitment.
Professor Anka stated this on Wednesday while receiving the members of the State House of Assembly committee on education who visited the Board for an oversight function in Gusau, the State capital.
He assured that he would work hand in hand with the committee to improve the standard of education in the State.
The ZSUBEB boss called on parents and guardians to always send their wards to school so as to acquire both western and Islamic education for them to become useful to the society.
Speaking earlier, the chairman, State House of Assembly committee on education, Hon Nasiru Abdullahi Maru commended the State Governor, Dauda Lawal for his foresight in appointing a competent and experienced person to serve as the State UBE chairman.
According to the committee chairman, it is the first time that a professor was appointed to steer the affairs of the State Universal Basic Education Board, and expressed optimism that Anka would take the standard of education to the next level.
