NAICOM unveils strategic plans to boost public trustCommissioner for Insurance/Chief Executive Officer of the National Insurance Commission, NAICOM, Mr. Sunday Thomas, has said that the Commission is exploring ways of strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Police Force in the areas of enforcement of compulsory insurances.

Thomas stated this when he paid a courtesy visit on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, in Abuja.

In his remarks, the IGP appreciated the support of NAICOM with regards to the insurances of the Nigerian Police Force and promised to work closely with the Commission.

It will be recalled that as part of measures to improve uptake of compulsory insurances, Thomas had enjoined federal and state governments to begin to make adequate provisions for insurance of public buildings and buildings under construction in their respective annual budgets.

He said these categories of insurance are made compulsory by extant insurance laws in Nigeria and, thus, must be complied with by all.

He urged the various state governments to emulate the Lagos State government by domesticating the insurance laws in their respective states.
