The Kano State police command has issued a fresh warning against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) planned rally.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Hussaini Gumel, spoke in a telephone conversation with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Kano.
Gumel stated that the command has already begun vigorous patrols in and around the city to maintain law and order.
He said armed security personnel had been dispatched to crucial areas in the state to deal with any type of security threat.
“As far as this command is concerned, we have not permitted the two major political parties to engage in any form of protest in our areas of supervision,” he said.
He urged the people to go about their legal business without fear of being molested.
He stated that the police and sister security organizations were working together to ensure adequate security for the state’s lives and property.
He also advised the leaders of the two parties to follow through on the peace treaties they signed.
He urged parents to keep a tight eye on their children’s movements since anyone detected breaking the peace would be detained and prosecuted.
