Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi on Tuesday appointed  Prof Edward Olanipekun as  Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.

Olanikpekun, a professor of chemistry, replaces Prof Sam Oye Bandele, who was sent packing in January.

Prof Olubunmi Ajayi has been occupying the position in an acting capacity ever since.

A statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Yinka Oyebode, said, “The appointment takes immediate effect.”

Oyebode in January said  Bandele’s  removal  followed  the consideration of the adoption of the White Papers on the Report of the Visitation Panel chaired by former Vice-Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Prof Bamitale Omole,  and the  panels  set up by the state executive council.
