One Yusuf Oriyomi, 38, and his friend, Idowu Ayigoro, 42, have been arraigned before an Ikeja chief magistrate’s court, for allegedly raping Oriyomi’s 15- year-old daughter.
The father, a baker, resides at 24 Ferry Close, and his friend, a carpenter, resides at Arabamo Street, both in Oworoshoki, a suburb of Lagos.
According to Police prosecutor, Inspector Clifford Ogu, the offences were committed in 2012 and on April 30, 2017 at Oworonshoki.
He told the court that the duo assaulted the girl on different occasions.
Ogu narrated that the girl’s mother had travelled to their village when the father woke her up at night and put his manhood between her thighs.
He said: “When the girl’s mother came, she told her and also narrated how her father’s friend defiled her five years ago.
“Hence, the case was reported at the police station by the mother and both accused were apprehended.”
The offence contravened Sections 137 and 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250,000 each, with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned till June 28 for mention.
