Benue PDP releases guidelines for LG election

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue State has issued guidelines for the nomination of candidates for the Local Government election in the state.

This follows the release of the time table for the elections slated for October 5 by the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, BSIEC.

The guidelines, signed by the Caretaker Committee Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon.Oryina Orvaa, were released on Monday.

According to Orvaa, screening of aspirants shall hold on Tuesday, 27th August, 2024 as follows:

He said councillorship aspirants from Zone A shall have their screening at London Galaxy Hotel in Adikpo at 10.00 am.

Orvaa said their counterparts from Zone B shall also commence their screening at 10:00 am at the PDP State Secretariat in Makurdi.

He added that those from Zone C shall have their aspirants screened at Leach Hotel in Otukpo from 10:00 am prompt.

Hon Orvaa stated that, “Chairmanship aspirants who have purchased and submitted their expression of interest and nomination forms shall be screened at the party headquarters in Makurdi on Tuesday, 27th August, 2024.”

He further noted that conduct of primaries for Councillorship aspirants shall hold on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the various council ward headquarters, while those of Chairmanship aspirants shall hold at the various local government area headquarters on same day.

Hon Orvaa said all appeals arising from screening and conduct of the Councillorship and Chairmanship primaries shall be heard on Thursday, 28th August, 2024, at the party headquarters in Makurdi.

He enjoined aspirants to ensure that all completed forms were submitted along with their tax clearance certificates, party membership and voters cards, photocopy of nomination and expression of interest forms, evidence of payment of handling charges and academic qualifications which must be presented during their screening.
