SDP dissolves State Working Committee in Kogi

The Social Democratic Party, SDP, has dissolved its State Working Committee in Kogi State.

This was contained in a letter signed by SDP National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Gabam and the Secretary, Dr Olu Agunloye, dated 22nd July, 2024.

According to the letter, “This is to officially inform your office that the National Working Committee, NWC, of the Social Democratic Party has received and considered reports on the activities and developments of the Kogi State Chapter and has, accordingly, dissolved the Kogi State Working Committee in line with the 2022 Constitution of the Party as amended.

“Consequently, the National Working Committee has therefore approved the constitution of a Caretaker Committee for the State Chapter.

“The tenure of the caretaker committee shall be 90 days or as the NWC may determine and this appointment shall take immediate effect.

“The INEC Chairman is hereby formally informed that the Kogi State Working Committee has been dissolved and replaced with a Caretaker Committee.”

It appointed the Deputy governorship candidate in the November 2023 election in Kogi State, Chief Sam Ranti Abenemi as the Caretaker Chairman.

Others appointed are Alh. Sheik Ibrahim Jibril, Secretary, while Alh. Jimoh Muhammed, Alh. Isah Abudikarim, Mrs. Rabi Emaiku, Mr. Fehint Dada, and Alh. Abubakar Kamar are members of the Caretaker Committee.

The letter added that the National Working Committee will soon conduct a fresh Congress in Kogi State to elect a new State Working Committee.
