A former Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, has sued the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission for alleged unlawful arrest.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ojerinde, in a suit marked, FHC/ABJ/CS/179/2023, filed before Justice Obiora Egwuatu, is seeking an order to enforce his fundamental rights, following his re-arrest on January 26 on the court premises and his subsequent detention.
The matter, which was listed on Monday’s cause list alongside the earlier money laundering suit filed against him by the anti-corruption commission, could not proceed.
This was due to the governorship and state Assembly election break embarked upon to the judges by the Federal High Court.
ICPC had accused the ex-JAMB boss of diverting public funds to the tune of N5bn and charged him with18 counts of money laundering.
