The Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara State on Wednesday demanded that the military should investigate the airstrike which led to death and injuries among civilians at Mutunji community in Maru Local Government Area of the state.
The APC-PCC said the investigation by military authorities became necessary to ensure that there was no negligence of any sort and for lessons to be learnt regarding future expeditions.
The coordinator of APC-PCC in Zamfara State and senatorial candidate for Zamfara Central, Kabiru Marafa, said these in a statement by the council’s Secretary (Strategic Coordination), Dr Mikail Ibrahim, titled, “Sympathising with the victims of a military airstrike in Maru Local Government.”
The statement read, “The APC Presidential Campaign Coordinator in Zamfara State and Senatorial Candidate for Zamfara Central, Senator Kabiru Marafa, received with shock the news of the collateral damage from military operations leading to death and injuries among civilians at Mutunji community of Maru Local Government in Zamfara State.
“On behalf of himself, his family and teaming supporters, Senator Marafa sympathises with the families of the victims, the government and the Governor of Zamfara State, the Local Government Chairman and his council, Dansadau and Maru Emirate Councils and the entire people of Zamfara State over the unfortunate the incident.
“He also calls for an investigation by military authorities of the particular incident at Mutunji to ensure that there was no negligence of any sort and to learn from its lessons and guide future expeditions.
