The Nigerian army says residents of Imo and Owerri, in particular, would witness an increased movement of troops and military equipment for the 2022 Army Day celebration (NADCEL).
The Army advised residents not to panic but to remain calm and peacefully go about their normal activities.
The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.- Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, made this disclosure in a release made available to newsmen in Owerri, Imo State.
Nwachukwu said the Nigerian Army Day Celebration is an annual event aimed at showcasing the commitment of the Nigerian Army over the years, as a professional responsive force.
He said the event for the year 2022 is scheduled to hold in Owerri, the Imo capital, from June 29 to July 6.
“The theme for this year’s NADCEL is: ‘Repositioning the Nigerian Army in the Joint Operations Environment: A Panacea for Success in Addressing Contemporary Security Challenges’.
“Activities lined up for the weeklong event include the Chief of Army Staff Press Briefing, Jumaat prayers, Inter-denominational church service, commissioning of Civil-Military Cooperations cum Quick Impact Projects, NADCEL Lecture, Chief of Army Staff Commendation Awards and parade among others “, he said.
