Stock Exchange honours Stanbic IBTC Chairman

The Nigerian Stock Exchange on Tuesday has closed the Gong Ceremony in honour of former Chairman of Stanbic IBTC Holdings, Mr. Atedo Peterside.

Mr. Peterside announced his resignation from the board of the bank with effect on March 31, 2017, after serving for 10 years.

Peterside served the bank as the Chief Executive Officer of IBTC from inception in 1989 at the age of 33 years, until the merger that created Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc in 2007.

He served as Chairman thereafter.

Meanwhile, the NSE market capitalisation closes on a negative note, after the close of trading activities on Tuesday.

The market capitalisation closed at 9,544 trillion Naira compared to Monday’s close of 9,511 trillion Naira, gaining 33 billion Naira or 0.35 percent.

Also the All Share Index gained 0.35 percent or 95.98 basis points to close at 27,609.67 basis points as against Monday’s close of 27,513.69 basis points.

A total of 569 million shares worth 6.682 billion Naira were traded in 4,632 deals.

Out of the registered number of stocks listed on the NSE, 23 stocks appreciated, 16 depreciated while all others remained unchanged.

Gainers
INTERNATIONAL BREWERIES PLC. topped the gainers’ table with N1.00 or five percent gain to close at N21.00 per share compared to Monday’s close of N20.00 per share.

CUSTODIAN AND ALLIED PLC followed after with 16 kobo or 4.89 percent gain to close at N3.43 per share compared to previous closing price of N3.27 per share.

While FCMB GROUP PLC gained 5 kobo or 4.67 percent to close at N1.12 per share compared to previous close of N1.07 per share.

Losers
SEPLAT PETROLEUM DEVELOPMENT COMPANY LTD topped the losers’ chart when it closed at N345.80 per share compared to previous closing price of N380 per share, losing N34.20 or 9.00 percent.

NEWREST ASL NIGERIA PLC followed with a closing price of N4.07 per share as against Monday’s closing price of N4.47 per share, losing 40 kobo or 8.95 percent.

While DANGOTE SUGAR REFINERY PLC fell by 24 kobo or 3.56 percent when it closed at N6.51 per share as against Monday’s closing price of N6.75 per share.
